The Project Schedule is as follows:
•    Owner receives  Qualifications June 5th, 2009
•    Construction Documents ready for bidding by October 1st, 2009

PROJECT LOCATION: Texas A&M University, College Station, TX
SCOPE OF WORK:
SCOPE OF WORK Texas A&M University is seeking qualifications from Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firms interested in preparing construction documents to:
1.    Design upgrades to the Fire and Life Safety Systems in the Chemistry Building, ’28, ’59 and ’72 wings.
a.    fire suppression system,
b.    fire alarm system
c.    smoke detection and evacuation system
d.    emergency and exit lighting
e.    emergency/exit doors and hardware, and related items required for a code compliant egress system

2.    Design accessibility upgrades, in accordance with the Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS), in the Chemistry Building, ’28, ’59, ’72 wings and ’86 wings. Accessibility upgrades, to meet the TAS, will be included in this project, as it relates to TAS 4.1.6 (2), Alterations to an Area Containing a Primary Function:
a.    parking
b.    accessible routes
c.    restrooms
d.    telephones
e.    drinking fountains
f.    Eyewashes
g.    showers
h.    accessible seating at lecture rooms

This will allow TAMU the ability to accomplish future renovations in the Chemistry Building without having to address 4.1.6 (2) items on a repeated basis.

3.    The A/E will develop a construction phasing plan, that meets the user’s requirements and also meets the budget for this project.

4.    Design will be in accordance with:
a.    TAMU requirements
b.    NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code)
c.    The International Building Code
d.    Texas Energy Conservation Design Standard
e.    Texas Accessibility Standards.

5.    The A/E will submit designs to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for accessibility review as a part of this project.
